Terms & Conditions
Meis Roofing & Construction (hereafter Warrantor) hereby warrants to the Owner of the roof project referenced on the associated project completion form (hereafter Owner), that the same will not leak water due to improper application, or as a result of ordinary weather conditions. In the event of leaks arising by some reason of faulty application, Warrantor shall be responsible for supplying the necessary labor and material to stop the leak(s) subject to the terms & conditions set forth in this document.
COMPLETE ROOF SYSTEM WARRANTIES
Warranties for complete new-roof or re-roof systems with a pitch steeper than 2/12 shall be valid for a minimum period of TWO (2) YEARS (unless otherwise specified on the corresponding contract) from the date of project completion.
Complete new-roof or re-roof systems on any complete roof or roof section that is equal to or lower than 2/12 pitch shall be valid for a minimum period of ONE (1) YEAR (unless otherwise specified on the corresponding contract) from the date of project completion.
Complete roof systems as mentioned above shall be defined as a system including an “edge-to-edge” roof installation or replacement including all edge metal/coping, insulation/underlayment, membrane/surface, & all associated flashings necessary to waterproof the roof surface.
LEAK REPAIRS, ROOF REPAIRS, PARTIAL ROOF INSTALLATIONS OR REPLACEMENTS
All leak repairs, roof repairs, or partial roof systems that are not complete re-roof/ new roof systems as defined above shall carry a ONE (1) YEAR warranty on the repair itself only. We diligently attempt to locate the source of the leak before repairs are recommended. However, due to the unpredictable and complex nature of roof leaks, it is possible that repairs performed under the associated contract will not stop any targeted roof leak(s). In this event, further repairs may be recommended at an additional charge at the sole expense of Owner. Leak stoppage is not covered under this warranty
All non-roofing work shall carry a warranty of ONE (1) YEAR (unless otherwise specified on the corresponding contract) from the date of project completion.
WARRANTY CLAIM PROCESS, NOTIFICATION, & OWNER’S RESPONSIBILITIES
The Owner shall notify the Warrantor of any leak, defect, failure or deficiency, which is discovered by Owner within ten (10) days of the discovery online via https://meisroofing.com/warrantyservice/, through email at email@example.com, or via regular mail to any of our local offices. Owner must complete a “WARRANTY CLAIM & SERVICE REQUEST” form for each warranty service incident prior to Warrantor providing warranty service. If the leak, defect, failure, or deficiency is covered by this warranty, the Warrantor shall then have the right to immediately inspect and repair the problem hereunder. If the leak, defect, failure, or deficiency is not covered by this warranty, the Warrantor shall have the right to immediately inspect and repair the problem with Owner’s written authorization and at Owner’s sole expense. Warrantor shall have the right to annually inspect the roof during the term of warranty. Owner shall contact Warrantor after all severe weather events within 14 days so that proper inspections and any necessary repairs can be made. Wind or hail damage may void this warranty and an insurance claim may be necessary to perform repairs. Payment per terms of the contract shall constitute the sole consideration for this warranty. If the Owner shall fail to make payment in accordance with the terms of the associated contract, this warranty shall be null & void and have no further effect. All warranties are null and void WITHOUT EXCEPTION if the total contract price is not paid in full to Warrantor by the close of business on the 90th day from project completion. Failure to pay non-warranty service invoices by the close of business on the 30th day from work completion will also result in this original warranty being nullified.
WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS & EXCEPTIONS
This warranty does not cover failure of the roofing job, leaks, or deficiencies due to the following: Damage to the roofing, property, building, or contents caused by fire, settling, distortions, or other failure of the building, natural causes including floods, lightning, windstorms, hail, cyclones, tornadoes, earthquakes, or other extraordinary or unusual events, wind-driven rain, ice dams, ice accumulation, damage to the roofing job from cracks or openings in the roof substrata, walls, partitions, foundations, flashings, fascia, trim, siding, chimneys, masonry, etc., vandalism, damages or attacks to the roof by third parties including contractors, inspectors, or foreign objects or agents including plant or animal life, damage caused by alteration, addition to, encroachment upon, or erection of a structure on the roof, or any use of the roof other than its original intended purpose, leaks or damage resulting from existing flashings or any other roof item not repaired or replaced per contract documents, any conditions that arise from any item not repaired or replaced as specifically mentioned in the contract documents, pre-existing building or energy code violations, color changes in the roofing as a result of normal weathering or atmospheric conditions which do not affect performance of the roof, leaks or damage resulting from ponding water or improper drainage of the roof system including “dead” valleys, low slope areas under 4/12 pitch with shingles, chimneys or skylights without crickets, improperly constructed curbs or skylights, weather deteriorated pipe boots, weather deteriorated caulking or other wear items, debris, leaves, or other items contributing to a lack of positive roof drainage, pre-existing structural deficiencies such as raised/sunken rafters or uneven/wavy decking, mold, blistering, or damage resulting from inadequate attic ventilation, mold or interior damage costs as a result of any leaks regardless of the reason for the leak. Please see your original contract and the back face; “Additional Provisions” for other warranty exclusions which shall be a part of this warranty. If any party other than Warrantor damages or makes repairs to Owner’s roof system without written agreement of Warrantor, this project warranty will be immediately null and void. The Warrantor reserves the right to disagree with building or home inspector reports as these inspectors are typically not knowledgeable about roof system construction or standard industry roofing practices.
PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY
Replacement of deteriorated decking, fascia boards, roof jacks, ventilators, flashing, or any other materials, unless otherwise stated in the Contract, are not included and will be charged as an extra on a time and materials basis. We will not be responsible for any preexisting structural problems. Some roofs have preexisting defects (i.e. sunken rafters, warped decking). The installation of a new roof system may enhance this appearance. We are not responsible for blistering, mold, damage, or any other problems resulting from inadequate ventilation. We are not responsible for installing additional ventilation unless specifically stated in the contract. We are not responsible for repairing leaks or resulting damage due to leaks originating from chimney, wall, curb, or skylight flashings or any other flashing or item not replaced by our company during the roofing process. We are not responsible for repairing leaks or resulting damage from leaks originating from siding, windows, fascia, soffit, chimneys, chimney caps, plumbing stacks, curbs, skylights, or any other items not replaced by our company during the roofing process. We are not responsible for repairing leaks or resulting damage from leaks originating from shingled slopes under 4/12, dead valleys, chimneys over 30” without crickets, inadequate gutter, or drain drainage, or any other areas with improper drainage. We are not responsible for repairing leaks or resulting damage from leaks due to improper building construction including poorly constructed roof transitions, porch or awning transitions, roof/wall junctions, etc. We are not responsible for repairing leaks or resulting damage from leaks caused by any clogged or obstructed roof drainage system including valleys, flashings, curbs, gutters, drains, etc. We are not responsible for repairing leaks or resulting damage from leaks caused by building settling, warped rafters, cracks, etc. We are not responsible for pre-existing building/ energy code violations. We are not responsible for these pre-existing conditions or upgrading them to current code. We are not responsible for damage done during or after roofing due to improper construction such as A/C, plumbing, gas lines located within 6” of the roof deck, existing HVAC stacks installed too close to deck, existing leaning HVAC stacks. We are not responsible to make repairs based on ANY home or building inspector, or 3rd party. Upon inspection, we may choose to do our own inspection and perform any repairs necessary according to our warranty agreement. We are not responsible for repairing leaks, damage resulting from leaks, or warrantying the construction or workmanship of any pre-existing, specific item on your roof, home, or building unless that specific item was explicitly stated in writing to be completely replaced or installed by our company.
MODIFICATON & TRANFERABILITY
No modifications of this warranty shall be effective unless in writing and approved by all parties. This warranty may be transferred to a new Owner should the property be sold, provided the Warrantor is notified in writing via email or mail of said sale within thirty (30) days of the transfer. This warranty contains the sole and exclusive liability of Warrantor for the roofing job and the application, maintenance and repair thereof. THIS WARRANTY IS IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES WRITTEN, ORAL, EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR OF FITNESS FOR A PRACTICAL PURPOSE.
